Prof. (Mrs) Gladys Anwuli Nwokoye

Gladys Anwuli Nwokoye is a Professor of Finance, in the Department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Benin. She is currently on Sabbatical leave, serving as the Pioneer Provost of a Monotechnic christened LAPO Institute of Microfinance and Management Studies. She obtained her Bachelors’ degree in Banking and Finance, Masters and Ph.D in Financial Management, all from University of Benin, Nigeria in 2001, 2005, and 2014 respectively.

Prof. (Mrs) Gladys Anwuli Nwokoye is an active researcher with major focus on Financial Management of corporate organisations, as well as, educational financial administration; with emphasis on strict compliance of established due processes and financial discipline. She has over Sixty (60) journal and other publications, and has presented many academic papers in a number of local and international conferences. She has served as a resource person and guest speaker at several workshops, seminars, and public lectures within and outside Nigeria.

Prof. (Mrs) Gladys Anwuli Nwokoye has acted in the capacity of Chief Executive (CEO) as Partnering Organisation (PO) with GOPA/GIZ Project, coordinated and sponsored by German Government, a grant-funding project for youths capacity building and development. She is a member of several learned societies including the Institute of Data Processing Management (FIDPM) in London, member/examiner, Chartered Institute of Bankers (HCIBN), Nigeria Computer Society (MNCS), the Academy of Management (MTAMN), Institute of Policy Management Development (FIPMD) and State Coordinator, South East and South South Research Group (SESSRG) .  She has also held a number of administrative positions within and outside the University of Benin including, Head, Department of Banking and Finance, Coordinator of Programmes at different levels, served in various University Committees, both as Faculty representative and  Vice Chancellor appointed.

She is also an ardent advocate of mentoring and financial discipline as a tool for system sustainability to date. She has mentored over 180 postgraduate and indigent students. She has contributed immensely to Faith Academy Network of Schools, Living Faith Church, Benin in the capacity of the Chairman to the Governing Council since 2019 TO 2022, served as a member of the Local Church Council, State Church Council and recently appointed a member of the State Education Board, all of Living Faith Church Network of Schools.

Prof. (Mrs) Gladys Anwuli Nwokoye loves singing/dancing, and spending time with family and so passionate about giving help to the less privileged youths and vulnerable widows in the society.

Research constitutes the very fulcrum of our intervention strategies.

The Institute conducts researches and empirical studies in the field of microfinance, enterprise development and poverty.

The outcome of our research serves as a rich reservoir of knowledge for the growth of the microfinance sector.

Key areas include market intelligence survey, employees’ engagement survey, branch feasibility studies, clients’ satisfaction surveys, Poverty Probability Index studies, microinsurance actuarial survey and organizational training needs assessments.

Special studies, such as corporate governance and institutional performance, are also conducted on a series basis.
