Prof. (Mrs) Gladys Anwuli Nwokoye

Prof. (Mrs) Gladys Anwuli Nwokoye is a Professor and the immediate past Head, Department of Banking and Finance, University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, where she obtained a doctorate degree in Financial Management.
She is currently the Provost, LAPO Institute for Microfinance and Management Studies. As a distinguished scholar, she has numerous academic awards of excellence, over thirty-five (35) research articles in several local and international journals and Six (06) scientific papers presented at international conferences outside Nigeria.

Having coordinated several programmes within the University, Dr. Nwokoye has membership in many reputed professional bodies within and outside Nigeria. Some of these includes:

Member, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIBN)

Member, The Academy of Management (MTAMN)

Fellow, Institute of Data Processing Management (FIDPM), London

Member, South-East and South-South Research Group


Dr. Nwokoye doubles as external assessor to Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi Uku, Benson Idahosa University and the Chairman, Faith Academy Governing Council. With research interest in Corporate Financial Management, International Finance and Financial Economics, she is happily married and blessed with children.

Research constitutes the very fulcrum of our intervention strategies.

The Institute conducts researches and empirical studies in the field of microfinance, enterprise development and poverty.

The outcome of our research serves as a rich reservoir of knowledge for the growth of the microfinance sector.

Key areas include market intelligence survey, employees’ engagement survey, branch feasibility studies, clients’ satisfaction surveys, Poverty Probability Index studies, microinsurance actuarial survey and organizational training needs assessments.

Special studies, such as corporate governance and institutional performance, are also conducted on a series basis.
